BOH Makes It Into The Malaysia Book Of Records For The Largest Tea Distribution In A Thaipusam Event

102,000 cups of BOH tea served at the festival

Selangor, 7th February, 2023 – The Malaysia Book of Records today announced that BOH Plantations Sdn Bhd (BOH) has successfully been listed in the Malaysia Book of Records for organising the Largest Tea Distribution in a Thaipusam Event.

BOH served 102,000 cups of tea over a two-day period, on 4th and 5th February, to devotees and visitors alike at the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple in Batu Caves which qualified them for this record breaking feat.

The huge crowd was seen enjoying a cup of BOH tea as they joined in the festivities. People had turned out in full force to celebrate this Hindu festival of faith, endurance and penance on a grand scale after having had to contend with Covid restrictions in past years. Many devotees with shaved heads were engaged in various acts of devotion, notably carrying different types of kavadi or a pot of milk.

“It was truly a meaningful and sensorial Ummph moment for BOH to have been present to interact with people from all walks of life and to experience close-up, the climactic highlights of the festival. Achieving the national record was certainly a very sweet finale and we surpassed our initial target of 100,000 cups. Thaipusam gave us a great opportunity to share our robust and flavourful tea grown in BOH’s highland tea gardens and to give back to the community for its support in helping us clinch the Gold Award at the recent Putra Brand Awards, the people’s choice awards which measures consumer brand preferences,” said Jason Foo, Chief Executive Officer of BOH.

Foo added that BOH will continue to be a strong advocate of sustainability and drive cultural awareness through community-based brand engagements.

In keeping with BOH’s commitment to the environment, the tea was served in recyclable and food grade paper cups which were collected for recycling.
